Cabo Yacht Charters 2026: The Complete Guide
Everything you need to charter a yacht in Cabo San Lucas: the boats, the hourly rates, what is included, and the routes worth taking, from El Arco to the snorkeling coves.
Why we wrote this guide
A private yacht is the single best thing you can do with a day in Cabo San Lucas. The whole reason the town exists sits right offshore: El Arco, the natural rock arch at Land's End where the Sea of Cortez meets the Pacific, plus Lover's Beach, the sea lion colony, and a run of swimmable coves the crowded catamarans never reach. From your own deck you set the pace, the playlist and the anchor points. This guide covers what a charter costs, which boat fits your group, where the captain should take you, and how to book one without wading through a dozen operators.
We arrange every charter through our vetted Los Cabos partner on the water, so the boat, the crew and the logistics are handled end to end. Browse the fleet and request a quote on the Cabo yacht charter page.
What a Cabo charter costs
Cabo yachts are priced by the hour, and the range is wide because the fleet is. Small open day boats start around 150 to 400 dollars an hour. Mid-size sport yachts and motor yachts in the 60 to 85 foot range run roughly 650 to 1,800 dollars an hour. The large catamarans and 100-foot-plus superyachts, the ones with a full crew, multiple staterooms and a chef, sit between 1,500 and 2,800 dollars an hour and up. Most charters are booked in three to six hour blocks, and prices move with the season, the day of the week and the group size, so every trip is quoted per request.
A useful rule: catamarans give you the most deck and shade for the money and are the steadiest platform for a party or a mixed-age group, while sport yachts trade space for speed if you want to cover more coastline.
The boats
- Day boats and open cruisers (32 to 45 ft): the value pick for a couple or a small group, a sunset cruise or a short snorkel run.
- Sport and motor yachts (60 to 100 ft): the sweet spot for 8 to 12 guests, with a shaded salon, a swim platform and room to bring water toys.
- Catamarans (52 to 110 ft): the widest, most stable decks, ideal for celebrations, bachelor and bachelorette groups, and anyone who wants to swim off the boat.
- Superyachts (100 to 116 ft): full crew, staterooms, a chef and a sun deck for a milestone or a corporate charter.

Where the captain takes you
- El Arco and Land's End: the postcard, five minutes out of the marina. The captain holds position for photos, then rounds into the Sea of Cortez side.
- Lover's Beach and the sea lion colony: a quick tender or paddle ashore to the beach tucked between the rocks.
- Santa Maria and Chileno Bay: two protected coves in the Tourist Corridor with clear water and reef, the best snorkeling near town.
- Medano Beach: the main swimmable stretch, lined with beach clubs, if you want to pull in for lunch.
- Whale watching: from roughly December through April, gray and humpback whales move through, and a private boat is the calmest way to see them.
What to ask before you book
Most crewed charters include the captain and deckhand, fuel for a standard route, and basic snorkel gear. The larger boats bundle an open bar, a chef or catering, and water toys such as paddle boards and seabobs. Confirm three things when you request a quote: whether food and drinks are included or added, whether Mexican tax and the crew tip are in the rate, and the maximum guest count, since some boats charge per head above a set number.
How to book
Tell us your date, group size and what kind of day you want, a chill snorkel run, a sunset sail for two, or a DJ-on-deck celebration, and our Los Cabos partner matches you to the right boat and confirms a tailored quote, usually within 24 hours. Start on the Cabo yacht charter page.
Make it a full day on the water and a private estate ashore: many groups pair a charter with a Cabo luxury villa. When you come in for dinner, our best restaurants in Cabo guide and Cabo nightlife guide cover the rest of the trip.
What people do after the boat
Most charters end mid-afternoon or at sunset, which puts you back on the marina with the
evening open. The two things groups ask us for next are a table on the sand at
Mango Deck or
SUR Beach House while it is still light, or a late
table at Mandala once it is not. We arrange those on the same thread as the boat, so the day runs as one booking.
