Best Rooftop Bars in London (2026): The 9 Best Skyline, Date-Night, and Party Roofs
Our concierge shortlist of the 9 best rooftop bars in London for 2026, grouped by vibe - sky-high views, date-night terraces, and party roofs - with a note on the season.
London wears its rooftops differently from the sun-belt cities - the best ones here pair a proper City-of-London or Thames panorama with somewhere warm to retreat when the weather turns. So the honest answer to "what are the best rooftop bars in London" is a short list sorted by the night you are having: the sky-high view-first perches, the polished date-night terraces, and the scene-driven party roofs. Below is our concierge shortlist for 2026 - nine of the best rooftop bars in London, grouped by vibe, each one a table our London partner helps guests reserve. Every pick links to its full page for the view, hours, dress code, and booking. A note on timing: the open-air terraces are at their best from spring through early autumn, and while heaters, covered areas, and retractable roofs stretch the season, winter hours can thin out - the fully enclosed rooms below run year-round. Aim for the golden hour and you will not go wrong.
Best Rooftop Bars for Skyline Views
If the view is the whole point, these are the rooftops where the City towers, St Paul's, and the Thames line up and hold still long enough to drink them in.
Duck & Waffle
Duck & Waffle is London's original sky-high icon, perched on the 40th floor of Heron Tower at 110 Bishopsgate and open 24 hours a day, seven days a week - the highest all-day restaurant and bar in the capital. Reached by a stomach-lurching external glass lift, the dining room wraps in floor-to-ceiling windows beneath a honeycomb ceiling, with the City spread out below. Because it is fully enclosed, it runs year-round and at every hour - sunrise coffee, sunset cocktails, or its famous namesake dish at 3am. Book a window table and time it for dusk.
Sky Pod Bar
The Sky Pod Bar crowns the Sky Garden, London's highest public garden, filling the top floors of 20 Fenchurch Street - the bulging Walkie Talkie tower - some 35 floors above the City. Set beneath a soaring three-story glass atrium landscaped with tiered subtropical planting, the bar opens onto east and west terraces with 360-degree views over the Thames, the Shard, and the City cluster. The glass atrium keeps it going year-round while the terraces shine in the warmer months. Reservations are essential and release in advance, so book early for a sunset slot.
Bokan
Bokan crowns the Novotel London Canary Wharf across its 37th, 38th, and 39th floors, the highest rooftop address in the Docklands and one of the loftiest in the city. Level 37 is the restaurant, Level 38 the cocktail bar, and Level 39 an open-air rooftop terrace, together delivering dramatic panoramas over Canary Wharf's towers, the Thames, and out toward the O2. The indoor levels run year-round while the 39th-floor terrace opens seasonally; go up for cocktails at 38 and step out to 39 when the weather allows.
12th Knot
12th Knot is the 12th-floor rooftop cocktail bar of Sea Containers London on the South Bank, a wall of floor-to-ceiling glass framing one of the capital's best north-bank panoramas - St Paul's dome dead ahead, with the City towers, the Thames, and the Blackfriars bridges spread below. Nautically themed with a bright, striking look, it is set behind glass, so the view holds up year-round whatever the London weather. This is the reliable rainy-evening rooftop; ask for a window seat facing St Paul's and book ahead for sunset.
Best Rooftop Bars for Date Night
When the night is about two people and a skyline, these are the plant-filled, polished terraces where the cocktails are the occasion.
Seabird
Seabird is the sun-trap rooftop restaurant and bar on the 14th floor of The Hoxton, Southwark, gazing north across the Thames to St Paul's, the City skyline, and the Shard. Reached by a dedicated lift, the room opens onto a plant-filled terrace of rattan seating and potted palms around a marble raw bar, home to London's longest list of oysters. A retractable pergola and heaters stretch the season, though spring through autumn is prime. Come for oysters and a spritz at golden hour and reserve the terrace ahead.
Aviary
Aviary is a 10th-floor rooftop restaurant and bar atop Montcalm Royal London House on Finsbury Square, one of London's most elevated al fresco dining spaces. Its expansive open-air terrace mixes coral and teal lounge seating, marble tables, and abundant greenery, with panoramic views over the City skyline and its landmark towers. The glass-walled interior keeps it comfortable when the weather turns, while the terrace peaks spring through autumn. A polished, greenery-wrapped date - book a terrace table for dinner and drinks.
Wagtail
Wagtail is a dual-level rooftop bar and restaurant tucked into the eaves of one of the City's grand art-deco buildings at 68 King William Street, near Monument and Bank. A 9th-floor restaurant with private terraces sits below a 10th-floor rooftop bar and open terrace that delivers genuine 360-degree views of the landmarks - Tower Bridge, the Shard, the Walkie Talkie. The interior runs year-round, and a covered, heated winter-terrace concept keeps the rooftop going through the colder months too. It is an intimate, characterful alternative to the bigger rooms; reserve upstairs for sunset.
Best Rooftop Bars for a Party
When you want the roof lively, the group toasting, and a DJ carrying the night, these are the scene-driven party roofs.
Radio Rooftop
Radio Rooftop sits on the 10th floor of the ME London hotel on the Strand, the only rooftop bar, lounge, and terrace in the Strand and Aldwych stretch, reached by a dedicated express lift. An open-air terrace and a warm, design-led interior look out over an unusually central sweep of London - the London Eye, the Shard, and the City cluster all in one frame. It leans glamorous and DJ-driven as the night builds, with a dress code to match. The interior runs year-round; the terrace is best spring through autumn. Book a table for the sunset-to-night crossover.
Savage Garden
Savage Garden is a 12th-floor rooftop cocktail bar and restaurant atop the DoubleTree by Hilton at Tower Hill, named for the medieval gardens that once surrounded the Tower of London below. Two open-air terraces and a lush indoor lounge deliver near-360-degree views: the Tower of London and Tower Bridge to the south, the Shard across the river, the City towers to the north. The indoor lounge runs year-round while the terraces open seasonally. It is a lively, group-friendly room - book a terrace table and time it for the bridge lighting up at dusk.
