Pendolasco · Restaurant · Saigon

A Thao Dien Italian institution, trading since 1998.
Pendolasco has been cooking Italian food in Thao Dien since 1998, opened by Milan-born chef Carlo Anzon, among the first to bring Italian cooking to the city. It is a garden restaurant with a wood-fired oven, and it has held its position through a period when the neighborhood transformed completely.
The cooking is Italian comfort food done well, without chasing ambition for its own sake - wood-fired pizza, handmade pasta, a short list of mains - and the room is built for families and long tables, not for occasions. That is part of why it has lasted.
The garden is as much the reason to book as the food itself. Tables sit under trees away from the street, with an air-conditioned indoor room as the alternative, and on a dry-season evening it is one of the more pleasant rooms in the city to spend a few hours in.
Pendolasco takes reservations through DiningCity - use the booking button on this page. The garden is uncovered in places, so a wet-season booking is safer indoors; in the dry months the outside tables are the reason to choose it.
