A new Michelin star for 2026, in a small room in An Khanh.
Upstairs took its first Michelin star in the 2026 guide, which makes it the newest addition among Ho Chi Minh City's six one-star restaurants and the hardest table to land right now. It sits at 36 Nguyen Ba Huan in An Khanh, across the river in the Thao Dien area, set above a wine bar with just four tables in the room.
The kitchen is a tasting-menu operation built around Chef Hiep Truong's modern Vietnamese cooking, rooted in Central Vietnamese traditions. The room is built entirely around that menu, not the other way round: four tables, curved lines, and an interior done in soft pink and beige tones, closer to a private dining room than a restaurant floor.
Upstairs serves dinner Tuesday, Friday and Saturday from 18:00 to 23:00, and adds a midday seating on Monday and Sunday from 12:00 to 15:00 alongside the evening service. It is closed Wednesday and Thursday.
A new star changes availability fast at a room this size. If your dates in Saigon are fixed, this is the reservation to make first and build the rest of the trip around.
