Propeller Rooftop Bar sits on the 17th floor of Bay Hotel Ho Chi Minh at 7 Ngo Van Nam, a short street near the river end of District 1. The room is compact: 35 seats indoors, 52 more on the open deck, with standing room for about 100.
Being set inside a boutique hotel keeps the room smaller than its height would suggest, and the seating splits between an air-conditioned indoor section and an open-air deck built for the view.
The deck looks toward the river and the newer towers on the far bank, with panoramic city and river views and a sunset that is the main draw. The kitchen runs Asian fusion tapas and bar snacks alongside a cocktail list, and Wednesday nights add a Ladies Night.
The bar is closed Monday. Tuesday through Sunday it runs from 16:00 to 23:00, with last food and drink orders at 22:30, earlier than most of the city's sky bars.
Book the sunset hour if the view is the reason for going. The deck fills fastest in the hour before dark, and it works best as the opening stop of an evening that continues elsewhere.
