The restaurant inside Medellin's Jardin Botanico
In Situ is the restaurant that the Jardin Botanico de Medellin, Joaquin Antonio Uribe, operates directly on its own grounds at Calle 73 #51D-14 in Aranjuez. The garden opened the restaurant in May 2008 as part of its own program to build the botanical garden into a cultural, gastronomic and tourist destination for the city.
The dining room seats up to 110 guests, with tables set by large windows that look directly onto the garden's plantings and paths. The garden describes the space as casual and elegant, built around those surroundings instead of a kitchen concept borrowed from elsewhere in the city.
Service runs by meal instead of one continuous block. Breakfast runs Tuesday through Saturday from 7 to 10 a.m., and Sunday and holidays from 9 to 11 a.m. Lunch runs daily from noon to 4 p.m., and dinner runs Thursday through Saturday from 7 to 10 p.m. The garden also runs a picnic service across its grounds daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., alongside event spaces such as the Salon Mutis and Salon Humboldt for private functions.
A visit pairs naturally with a walk through the garden itself, since the restaurant sits inside the same grounds guests come to see.
