La Cafetiere de Anita · Restaurant · Medellin

Classic French fine dining in El Poblado since 1997
La Cafetiere de Anita is Medellin's reference for classic French cooking, a formal, long-running room in El Poblado. Chef and owner Anita Botero opened it in 1997, first as a bistro and later renamed for herself. In nearly three decades it has moved twice, always within the same neighborhood, to its current address on Calle 6 Sur.
The kitchen works the traditional French repertoire, with foie gras, iberico ham and langostinos among the starters and salmon served two ways, in a dill sauce or a hollandaise, among the mains. It closes on a classic creme brulee, with an extensive wine list alongside the food.
The room is set up for a slow, formal evening, and the dress code is casual elegant: no flip-flops, sportswear or caps. A shop attached to the restaurant sells gift cards and its own cookbook, apart from a sitting in the dining room.
La Cafetiere de Anita is closed Sundays and holidays, open for lunch and dinner Monday through Saturday. It is a reservation restaurant, not a walk-in one, and weekend sittings go first.
