Chef Panagiotis Menardos's creative Mediterranean cooking in a Mykonos Town mansion.
M-eating occupies a traditional Mykonian mansion on Kalogera street, a short walk into the center of Mykonos Town. Chef-owner Panagiotis Menardos opened it after years cooking in the kitchens of five-star hotels, and it reads as a personal project rather than a franchise - a handful of rooms and a courtyard, stone walls, and a menu that shifts with what the island and the boats bring in.
The cooking is contemporary Mediterranean with a firmly Greek backbone. Menardos takes traditional Cycladic ingredients and recipes and gives them a lighter, more composed treatment: local cheeses, garden vegetables, slow-cooked meats and the day's Aegean fish, plated with real precision. It has built a reputation as one of the more serious kitchens in Mykonos Town, the kind of place regulars name when the conversation turns to where locals actually eat well.
The setting is intimate and unshowy, better suited to a considered dinner than a party, and the service is attentive without hovering. Peak seating runs from roughly half past eight, and the small dining room fills quickly through the high season, so an early or a late table is often the easiest to land.
Reservations are worth making ahead in July and August. M-eating takes bookings through its own website and by phone, and walk-ins are sometimes possible earlier in the evening for those willing to wait for a table.
