M-eating occupies a traditional Mykonian building from the early 20th century on Kalogera Street in the center of Mykonos Town. Chef-owner Panagiotis Menardos, who comes from the island, opened it after years in the kitchens of five-star hotels working alongside distinguished chefs, and set out to cook his own menu of wider Mediterranean dishes built on local flavors.
The latest menu turns toward comfort food drawn from cooking memories of an earlier era. A board of four traditional Mykonian cheeses, Mykonian onion pie in handmade phyllo and the island's pork belly with cabbage open the meal, with grilled baby squid on yellow split pea cream and freshly smoked tuna alongside. Mains run from orzo with shrimp and baked sea bass to lemon-braised lamb on celeriac puree, and dessert includes a take on the Mykonian almond sweet, amygdaloto.
Guests choose between the garden, the raised veranda and an indoor room that feels tucked away from the street, and the staff are glad to talk through the menu and match a Greek wine to each dish.
Reservations are worth making ahead in July and August. M-eating takes bookings through its own website and by phone; dinner tables are held for two hours, and a table is released if arrival runs more than 10 to 15 minutes late.
