The Muse sits on the rooftop of Mia Saigon in Thao Dien, on the far side of the river from the center, and the crossing is the point. From here the Saigon River curves past Thanh Da Island, and the room is built around that view instead of the downtown skyline.
The format is cocktails and tapas instead of a full dining room, which suits the setting: this is a place to spend two or three hours over small plates as the light goes, not a place to work through a tasting menu. Two open-air terraces face the water, and the room behind them is small enough to stay comfortable. The design draws on the Indochine era, with patterns and details nodding to that period.
Thao Dien is a fifteen to twenty minute drive from the center depending on traffic, and the trip out is worth building into the evening instead of squeezing between two District 1 bookings.
Doors are from 16:00 through the week and 14:00 on Sunday, closing at midnight daily. The Sunday opening is the one worth knowing about, because an afternoon that runs into evening on the river is the best version of this room.
