Francine sits in the luxury wing beside Scottsdale Fashion Square, and it is the closest thing Scottsdale has to a Riviera dining room. Chef-founder Laurent Halasz was raised in the South of France and the menu is a direct read of le midi: grilled octopus, branzino baked in a sea salt crust, steak frites, rosemary lamb chops and a seared tuna salad, cooked in the plain, ingredient-forward register the region actually uses rather than a heavy interpretation of it.
The room matches the food. It is airy and bright rather than dark and formal, which makes it as workable for a long lunch as for dinner, and the terrace is the seat to ask for in the cooler months.
Service runs from 11am seven days a week, to 9pm Monday through Thursday and Sunday, and to 10pm on Friday and Saturday. That early opening makes it one of the few rooms on our Scottsdale list that takes a midday table properly.
