Barbara is fourteen seats folded into a 500-square-foot sliver of Chinatown at 305 East Pender, and it holds a Michelin star for the third straight year running. It is one of the most personal fine-dining rooms in the city, and one of the fastest to sell out, the kind of table you plan a trip around rather than fit into one.
Chef Patrick Hennessy, a Canadian who came up through Chambar, rose through the ranks at Kissa Tanto, and staged at New York's Eleven Madison Park, opened Barbara in June 2020, in the thick of the pandemic.
