The Roof sits atop The West Hollywood EDITION at 9040 Sunset Boulevard, a terraced deck laid out with wooden bench seating, mature trees and terra cotta potted plants. By day guests come up for the sun and the views, and the deck stays open for dinner and drinks above the Sunset Strip into the night.
The kitchen leans Latin with Southern California flair. Start with the Seabass Ceviche in serrano-citrus jus with avocado, the Ahi Tuna Tostada with yuzu kosho, or the Hamachi Tiradito with aji amarillo and charred avocado. Tacos come three to an order, from Carne Asada with prime skirt steak and salsa molcajete to Duck Confit with mole rojo, and The Chefs Board brings Pacifico bass, skirt steak, esquite and warm tortillas for the table. The Roof Burger, with pepper jack, poblano and chipotle, covers everyone else.
The bar is built on a deep list of mezcal and tequila. The Jalisco Spicy Margarita mixes Lost Explorer Blanco with jalapeno, St. Germain, agave, lime and habanero, and the list adds wellness cocktails with fresh pressed juices, a long run of rose wines, and zero-proof options like the Solara.
Breakfast is served daily from 7am to 11am, with lobster benedict and a WeHo burrito among the morning plates. The main menu picks up at 11:30am and runs until 9:30pm Sunday through Thursday, and until 12:30am on Friday and Saturday, the two late nights on the deck.
