Neal Fraser's restaurant in the former rectory of St. Vibiana's cathedral, Downtown Los Angeles.
Redbird is chef Neal Fraser's restaurant at 114 E 2nd Street in the Historic Core of Downtown Los Angeles, set in the former rectory of the 1876 St. Vibiana's cathedral. Fraser opened it in 2015 with Amy Knoll Fraser, who operate the surrounding Vibiana property; it was selected in the 2026 MICHELIN Guide.
The main dining room is open-air beneath a retractable roof, with views of the bell tower, plus a wood-burning fireplace and heaters for cooler evenings. The MICHELIN Guide review describes an airy space with a high open ceiling and two circular bars. The adjoining lounge is a cocktail and dining space with banquette tables, bar seating and its own small-plates menu, run by James Beard Award finalist Tobin Shea.
Fraser's menu moves from small bites to generous plates built for the table. Everything Parker Rolls come with fennel pollen and date butter at $14, and the kombu-cured hamachi with orange ponzu, serrano and shiso at $26. Larger plates include a whole crispy branzino in Thai broth with lemongrass and black lime at $52 and a 32 oz Creekstone Farms porterhouse for two at $162.
Dinner runs Tuesday through Friday from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Saturday and Sunday add a 10:00 am to 2:00 pm service, with dinner closing at 10:00 pm and 9:00 pm respectively. The property carries a Main Hall, five private dining rooms and a hidden garden, hosting private events for up to 800 guests; select dates, group sizes and rooms can be reserved online.
