Dave Beran's 14 to 17 course tasting menu on Main Street in Santa Monica, with one MICHELIN star.
Seline is Dave Beran's seasonal tasting-menu restaurant on Main Street in Santa Monica, and it holds one MICHELIN star in the 2026 California selection. It opened in December 2024, named for Beran's daughter Harvest Moon; Seline means heaven or moon in Latin. Beran cooked at Alinea and NEXT in Chicago, winning a James Beard Award for Best Chef: Great Lakes, and took the 2026 James Beard award for Best Chef: California.
The restaurant is built to keep the cooks and the guests in one conversation: the layout removes the barriers between kitchen and dining room, and the service style and the custom plateware are made to prompt talk across the table.
One seasonal menu runs in two lengths. The Tasting Menu is 14 to 17 courses at $325 per guest and takes about two and a half hours; the Extended Version Menu is 24 to 27 courses at $465 per guest and runs about three and a half hours. Courses vary in size and move through meat, seafood and vegetables, drawing on Southern California. Beverage Director Matthew Brodbine's wine pairing is $225 per guest, a non-alcoholic pairing is $165, and a hybrid of the two is $195.
Service is evenings, Tuesday through Saturday: 6 pm to 9 pm Tuesday and Wednesday, 6 pm to 10 pm Thursday, and 5:30 pm to 10 pm Friday and Saturday. On dress, the restaurant asks guests to come comfortably dressed for the day and the occasion, business casual or casual as they prefer, to leave beach attire for the beach, and to skip strong perfume and cologne.
