Ember-fire cooking and a 50 Best bar, 22 floors up
Mamba Negra is the moody, high-altitude counterpart to Medellin's polished tasting rooms - a restaurant and bar that cooks over embers and mixes some of the best drinks in the country. It sits on the 22nd floor of the Q Tower in El Poblado, with the whole city spread out below.
The kitchen, run by the Hacienda group, leans hard into live fire and smoke; the mood is all fire, embers and mystery, snake-themed down to the black-mamba name. Come dressed for it - this is one of the city's genuine see-and-be-seen rooms, and the crowd treats a table here as an event.
But the bar is the headline. Under Juan David Zapata it landed on The World's 50 Best Bars, and its Mamba Lab pours tiny, laboratory-style cocktails built only from Colombian ingredients, alongside the history-minded Culebrero menu that riffs on Medellin's own past.
You can treat it two ways. Book it as a dramatic dinner with a view, or come later and work the bar as a destination in its own right - both hold up, and the sunset hour is the sweet spot for either.
Because it doubles as a scene, weekend tables move quickly, so reserve ahead rather than chancing the elevator on the night.
