Postino Highland is the Old Town Scottsdale outpost of Arizona's original wine cafe, and its room is unmistakable. The building was a 1960s Valley National Bank branch designed by architect Frank Henry, who later apprenticed under Frank Lloyd Wright, reworked into an industrial wine cafe with soaring ceilings, warm light, and a wall installation built from more than 10,000 vintage matchbooks collected over the years by guests. The food is built for sharing and pairing. Postino made its name on bruschetta, and the move is the bruschetta board: pick four from roughly ten toppings, from smashed avocado to prosciutto with figs and mascarpone, generous enough to pass around the table. The wine list is the point, approachable and well priced, poured by staff who make the unfamiliar feel safe to try.
