Le Crocodile · Restaurant · Vancouver
Vancouver's reborn French classic - Rob Feenie now runs Michel Jacob's 40-year room, table-side Dover sole and all.
Le Crocodile is one of Vancouver's great French institutions, first opened forty years ago by chef Michel Jacob and relaunched in June 2024 under chef Rob Feenie. It is a genuine occasion restaurant, the classic white-tablecloth French dining the city had been missing, and Feenie's version earned a place on Canada's 100 Best in 2025.
The 80-seat downtown room was reworked for the relaunch by David Hepworth of SITU Design, keeping the old restaurant's signature yellow while adding faux-crocodile embossed seating, a geometric floor and a balance of art deco and Provencal style. Feenie, Vancouver's best-known chef and of Lumiere fame, leads the kitchen with Marc Marayag as chef de cuisine and returning pastry chef Mark Pugsley, blending classic French cooking with West Coast ingredients.
