Published on Main opened in Mount Pleasant in December 2019 and has since climbed to a Michelin star, a number 17 ranking on North America's 50 Best 2026, and a place on Canada's 100 Best. It is one of the toughest tables in Vancouver and one of the most rewarding.
The room is warm and low-lit, a Mount Pleasant storefront on Main Street that feels more neighborhood than temple, with an open kitchen and a bar program that pulls its own crowd and has become a destination in its own right. Chef Gus Stieffenhofer-Brandson, a Red Seal-trained cook who has put the restaurant on the national map, works a Pacific Northwest menu with a strong Nordic streak, leaning on fermentation and foraged ingredients like elderflower, nettle and sea asparagus, all filtered through his Manitoban heritage and what the team is excited about that week.
The tasting menu is the headline event, currently running as the Harvest Fall Tasting Menu, alongside a Family Style Chef's Dinner and an a la carte menu that includes dishes like Side Stripe Prawn and BC Chanterelles. The card shifts constantly with the seasons, so expect the exact courses to change while the Pacific Northwest, fermentation-forward style stays constant.
Weeknights are the easier path to the full tasting menu. If the dining room is booked up, the a la carte bar takes walk-ins and delivers much of the same thrill without the wait. Dress is smart casual, and reservations for groups larger than six require booking in advance.
