Chateau Carbide is the rooftop bar and cocktail lounge of Pendry Chicago, on the 24th floor of the 1929 Carbide & Carbon Building on Michigan Avenue in the Loop. The Art Deco tower, a Chicago Landmark since 1996, is known for its dark green terracotta and gold-leaf facade, and the rooftop's outdoor terrace looks out over the city skyline.
The drinks lead: an Aperol Spritz, signature cocktails such as the Dragon Fruit Watermelon Margarita and the mezcal-based Summer in Oaxaca, spirit-free cocktails, and Champagne by the glass or bottle from Moet & Chandon, Veuve Clicquot and Ruinart. The food runs to small plates for sharing, from shrimp cocktail and a yellowfin tuna crudo to Iberico ham toast, a Mediterranean dip trio and prime rib sliders, with lemon blueberry cake and pistachio cheesecake for dessert.
Friday and Saturday afternoons open with Spritz Social Hour from 2 to 5 PM, and DJs take over from 7 to 10 PM on the same nights, as hotel guests and locals gather for the sunset. Guests must be 21 or older.
The rooftop is open Tuesday through Thursday from 5 to 11 PM and Friday and Saturday from 2 to 11 PM.
