Girl & the Goat has anchored 809 West Randolph in the West Loop since 2010, one of the first restaurants on what became Chicago's Restaurant Row. James Beard Award-winning chef Stephanie Izard built it around bold, global flavors, and the kitchen holds a Bib Gourmand in the Michelin Guide.
The menu is built to share, seasonal and unafraid of bold flavor. Hamachi agua chile comes with tart plums and shiso, the pan-roasted halibut sits on miso-marcona almond butter with blueberry nuoc cham, and the sticky glazed pork shank is a centerpiece for the whole table. The goat gets its own section, from goat empanadas to confit goat belly and goat liver mousse with crumpets. Vegetables are not an afterthought: the sauteed green beans with fish sauce vinaigrette and cashews have been on the menu since opening.
Cocktails, wine and a locally rooted beer list change with the seasons. For a closer look at the cooking, The Tiniest Goat chef's counter serves a chef-selected prix fixe with a front-row view of the kitchen, and a date night, a group celebration or a quieter dinner all fit the main room.
Dinner runs from 4:30pm nightly, until 10pm Sunday through Thursday and 11pm on Friday and Saturday, and Sunday adds a 10am to 2pm brunch of shareable plates and cocktails.
