Kasama is the world's first Michelin-starred Filipino restaurant, run by husband-and-wife chef-owners Tim Flores and Genie Kwon on North Winchester Avenue. It leads a double life: a casual daytime bakery and counter, then an intimate fine-dining tasting-menu room after dark.
The room now holds two Michelin stars, promoted from one to two in the 2025 Chicago Michelin Guide, a jump that marks it as far more than a groundbreaking first. The evening is a modern Filipino tasting menu that reframes Filipino classics through a personal, contemporary lens, moving between comfort and refinement course by course.
Genie Kwon's pastry training threads through the meal and gives the sweet side of the menu its polish, while Tim Flores's background inspires the modern take on Filipino cooking. It is cooking that feels rooted and inventive at the same time.
The daytime bakery runs as casual counter service Wednesday through Sunday from 9am to 3pm, with the kitchen and dining room open until 2pm. The dinner tasting menu seats Thursday through Sunday evenings only, at $325 per person, with optional beverage and non-alcoholic pairings. Dinner reservations for parties of up to six are released on a rolling six-week calendar at noon Central time.
