Miru is the modern Japanese restaurant and terrace on the 11th floor of the St. Regis Chicago, Jeanne Gang's 101-story tower in the Lakeshore East neighborhood. Its name is Japanese for view.
From its dining rooms and two riverfront terraces it looks over Lake Michigan, Navy Pier and the Chicago River, with summer fireworks over the water on Wednesday and Saturday evenings. Designed by Rockwell Group, the space borrows the curves of the tower itself, with a warm, neutral palette running through a sequence of dining, bar and lounge rooms.
The kitchen sends out precise sushi and sashimi, signature nigiri such as hamachi with lemon and white ponzu, robata skewers, crispy rice and Japanese A5 Wagyu, matched to an extensive sake list and cocktails built on Japanese whisky and gin. It skews upscale and date-night.
Breakfast and lunch are served on weekdays and brunch on weekends, the lounge menu runs every afternoon from 2 to 5pm, and dinner goes until 9pm most nights and 10:30pm on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Reservations run through OpenTable.
