VU Rooftop is a rooftop restaurant and bar on the 22nd floor at 133 E. Cermak Road in the South Loop, steps from McCormick Place, with panoramic views over downtown Chicago and Lake Michigan. The space runs three bars and two patios, and when the weather turns, outdoor reservations move inside.
Executive Chef Debbie Gold runs a seasonal kitchen that serves breakfast every morning and dinner from late afternoon. The dinner menu runs from oysters with toasted nori mignonette and a seafood tower to Korean BBQ marinated skirt steak, Korean fried chicken wings and a double smash burger, and the bar pours signature cocktails such as the 22nd Floor S'more alongside wine and beer. Happy hour runs Monday through Saturday before dinner.
Live jazz plays most Thursdays and Fridays, and the room draws after-work drinks, convention meetups, client dinners and date nights. The dress code is dress to impress, with no beach or pool attire, and guests must be 21 or over from 9 PM.
Reservations are highly encouraged, and walk-ins are limited to parties of up to four, seated first come, first served.
