Seven-table Michelin star restaurant on a Condesa rooftop
Esquina Comun began in 2021 as a supper club that chef Ana Dolores Gonzalez and her partner Carlos Perez-Puelles ran out of a rented apartment. When their landlord found out, they moved into a bare rooftop in Condesa and built it out themselves, piece by piece, and the restaurant has occupied that covered rooftop ever since. It has held one Michelin star since the first Mexico guide in 2024.
There are only seven tables, set among heavy planting under a roof, though that can stretch to eight or nine on a busy night. The tasting menu is portioned for two and moves with what the kitchen has that week; recent plates have included grilled fish in a green mole with plantain and pumpkin seeds, and a masa and plantain tamal filled with chile-tinted fish and salsa macha. The room stays cozy and personal, closer to eating in someone's dining room than a restaurant.
The week's capacity is genuinely small, and that, plus the star, is why dates disappear quickly.
