Seven tables, one Michelin star, a Condesa rooftop
Esquina Comun began in 2021 as a supper club that chef Ana Dolores Gonzalez and her partner Carlos Perez-Puelles ran out of a rented apartment in Roma. When the landlord worked out what was happening, they moved, and the restaurant now occupies a covered rooftop in Condesa. It has held one Michelin star since the first Mexico guide in 2024.
There are only seven tables, set among heavy planting under a roof, with the kitchen open to the room. The menu is a tasting sequence that pulls Mexican, Spanish and Peruvian threads together, and the stated philosophy is simple enough to test: everything starts with the ingredient, sourced small and local, and technique stays in service of it.
