Nightingale is David Hawksworth's casual downtown room, the lively counterpart to his fine-dining flagship, set in a restored 19th-century heritage building at 1017 West Hastings inside the MNP Tower. It delivers the Hawksworth kitchen without the tasting-menu formality: shared plates, house pasta, wood-fired pizza, and a buzzy two-level space that works for a group as easily as a date.
Opened as Hawksworth's second restaurant, it quickly became one of the busiest rooms downtown. The award-winning firm Studio Munge designed the heritage space, which soars with high ceilings, exposed copper pipes and reworked library furniture, a striking backdrop that keeps the mood energetic.
The menu is built for sharing: seasonal vegetables and organic salads, house-made pastas, charcuterie and crudo, creative proteins, and the wood-fired pizzas the room is known for. The wine program, led by a Sommelier of the Year-winning list, is built to match the range of the menu. The card rotates seasonally, so expect the specific dishes to shift with what is in season.
Nightingale works across the day and shines for groups. Happy hour runs 3 to 5pm daily, with dinner from 5pm and a distinctly livelier crowd as the weekend evenings fill in. A few days ahead covers most nights; give it a week or more for a larger weekend party. Dress is smart casual, and the downtown waterfront bars are an easy walk when you move on.
