Osteria Savio Volpe is a rustic Italian osteria on Kingsway in Vancouver, built around a wood-fired grill and pasta made fresh every day. The kitchen follows the classic osteria tradition of simple, regional Italian cooking, sourcing from nearby farms, lakes and oceans, and the restaurant is recognized in the Michelin Guide.
It comes from restaurateur Paul Grunberg, Mark Perrier and designer Craig Stanghetta, who opened the room in 2015. Pasta is made by hand daily, fatta a mano in casa, while meat, poultry and fish are finished over live fire and smoke, and the room itself is warm and convivial, built for long dinners with family and friends.
The current menu opens with warm garlic knots, pecorino and pomodoro, and fire-roasted vegetable arancini, followed by starters like beef carpaccio and wild BC salmon crudo. Handmade pastas include agnolotti del plin and pappardelle with lamb bolognese, and the wood fire turns out a Rossdown Farms half chicken with salmoriglio and charred lemon, Fraser Valley duck breast, and a bone-in ribeye. For the table, Savio Volpe also runs a family-style menu starting at $91 per guest.
Reservations are taken online for parties of one to six, with seatings running two to two-and-a-half hours; groups of seven or more call the restaurant directly to book.
