11 Woodfire is chef-owner Akmal Anuar's fire restaurant in a villa on 75B Street in Jumeirah 1, holding one MICHELIN star and listed in the Guide since Dubai's inaugural 2022 selection. Almost nothing leaves the kitchen without having been near a flame.
The kitchen is the focal point of the room rather than something hidden behind it, with a hand-built wood-burning oven and a forged-steel grill working oak, hickory and hay. The design leans on an old brick finish, heavy ironwork and leather, kept deliberately spare, and an extended non-alcoholic bar runs alongside the dining room.
Head chef Brando Moros runs the kitchen day to day, cooking what the restaurant describes as the ancient art of open-fire cooking brought into the modern era. There is also The Heritage Room, five seats behind a vault door, which opens on Thursdays and Fridays for two seatings and takes reservations only.
It is the most relaxed of Dubai's starred rooms and the easiest to reach for a weekday lunch rather than an occasion. Service runs every day from noon to midnight, with a lunch prix fixe Monday to Friday until 4 pm. The main room books online; the Heritage Room is arranged separately.
