KIGO took one MICHELIN star in the 2026 Dubai selection, its first, which makes it the newest starred room in the city. It sits on the ground floor of Gate Village Building 9 at the Four Seasons in DIFC.
The space is built as a counter rather than a dining room, and it is deliberately hard to find from the Gate Village walkways. Head chef Akinori Tanigawa, known as Aki, works it alongside chef Daihachiro Ebata.
The kitchen runs two Japanese traditions in the same room: kaiseki, the seasonal multi-course format, and Edomae sushi, the Tokyo style built on aged and cured fish rather than raw simplicity. The eight-course tasting menu starts at AED 1,500 a head, with a wine and sake pairing from AED 750. The restaurant calls this an authentic seasonal Japanese dining experience, and the seasonality is the organizing idea rather than a flourish on top of it.
Dress is smart elegant and the restaurant does not admit technical sportswear, shorts or slippers, though national dress is welcome. Dinner runs Wednesday through Sunday from 6 pm. Seats are few and go online, so reserve early in the week if you want a weekend place at the counter.
