Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2026: The Dubai Guide
The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix closes the 2026 season at Yas Marina, December 4 to 6. Why the F1 crowd bases in Dubai, the drive, and where to eat and go across race weekend.
Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2026: the season finale, and why you base yourself in Dubai
The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix closes the 2026 Formula 1 season at Yas Marina Circuit, December 4 to 6, with the race on Sunday, December 6. It is the last round of the year, run partly under floodlights as the sun goes down over the marina, and it has decided more championships than any other season finale on the calendar.

Most people who travel for this race do not stay in Abu Dhabi. They stay in Dubai and drive down, and that is the right call: the drive is under an hour on a straight motorway, and the difference in what is available at the other end is substantial.
Why Dubai, and what the drive actually looks like
Yas Island sits roughly an hour southwest of central Dubai on the E11. On race weekend that becomes longer in both directions, and the return on Sunday night after the race is the worst of it.
The practical version:
- Leave earlier than you think for the sessions. Traffic onto Yas Island is heavily managed on race day.
- Do not book a Dubai dinner reservation for immediately after the race. You will miss it.
- Sunday night is the one to plan properly. Either stay on Yas for the post-race concerts, or accept a late return and book accordingly.
December is also the best month of the year to be in the UAE. The heat has broken, the humidity has gone, and the entire outdoor season is running at full strength. That is the real argument for basing in Dubai: the race is three days, and the rest of the week is what you actually came for.
Where to eat in Dubai that week

The DIFC is the anchor. Zuma is the most consistently booked restaurant in the city and has been for over a decade. GAIA is the Greek room that took the same crowd, and Clap is the Japanese one currently hardest to get into.
Carbone and Cipriani are the Italian-American imports, both of which behave exactly as they do in New York. COYA does Peruvian with a bar that runs late, and SushiSamba on the 51st floor of the St Regis has the view.

Maison Revka on the Marasi waterfront is the most theatrical dining room in the city and the one that most surprises visitors. Sakhalin and Nobu on the Palm complete the group, and Gitano is the outdoor option that makes the most of December weather.
Daytime, which is the point of December

This is the part that justifies the trip beyond the race.
Nikki Beach on Pearl Jumeira and Nammos on the Palm are the two that run the strongest weekend programming. Kyma Beach and Surf Club are the more relaxed alternatives, and O Beach runs the biggest party of the group.
Baoli on the Palm is the day-to-night operation that handles both halves.
After

Soho Garden Palm Jumeirah and Soho Garden DXB are the largest nightlife complexes in the city and the ones most likely to run race-weekend programming. Raspoutine and Toy Room are the smaller, later rooms, and ORA and The Avenue round out the set.
A note on timing: Dubai nightlife starts late even by Mediterranean standards. A club that opens at 11pm does not fill until 1am. Plan dinner accordingly rather than arriving to an empty room.
Planning the weekend
- Base in Dubai, drive to Yas. Better rooms, better food, and the drive is manageable if you plan it.
- Race tickets, hospitality, and the Yas Marina paddock programs are handled well in advance. Tell us what you need and we will arrange it alongside the rest of the week.
- Book the DIFC rooms early. December is peak season in Dubai independent of the race, and the top tables go weeks out.
- Keep Sunday night flexible until you know how you are getting back.
Tell us your dates and party size and our Dubai team arranges the table.
