EDC Thailand runs in Phuket, but almost every international attendee routes through Bangkok. The rooftops, clubs and one proper dinner worth planning for the nights around the festival.
EDC Thailand: the Bangkok nights either side of it
Electric Daisy Carnival runs its Thailand edition in Phuket, and almost nobody flies
straight there. Long-haul routes land in Bangkok, the domestic hop south is an hour, and
the practical shape of the trip is two or three Bangkok nights on the way in, the festival
weekend on the island, and often another Bangkok night before flying home.
Which makes the Bangkok half worth planning rather than defaulting into. Confirm the 2026

Why the Bangkok stopover is not wasted time
The instinct is to treat Bangkok as transit. That is a mistake specific to this trip,
because the two cities are good at opposite things.
Phuket during EDC is a festival site: a single crowd, one soundtrack, everything priced
and paced around the event. Bangkok is the counterweight. It has the deepest rooftop bar
scene in Asia, a Michelin selection larger than most European capitals, and a nightclub
circuit that runs to 2am on a Tuesday without a festival in town.
A crowd that has flown eighteen hours for a dance festival is, in our experience, also a
crowd that wants one very good dinner and one extraordinary view before it starts.
The rooftops
This is the category Bangkok wins outright, and the right first night.
Tichuca Rooftop Bar in Thonglor is the one to lead with. The
tree-canopy structure at the top is genuinely unlike anything else in the city, and the
crowd skews to exactly the demographic flying in for EDC.
Sky Bar at lebua is the famous one, sixty-three floors up on an open
parapet, and worth doing once even though it is the most touristed rooftop in Thailand.
Sky Beach Bangkok is the newer, louder alternative, and
Above Eleven in Nana is the reliable one that does not require a plan.
For something quieter before a late night, Cielo Sky Bar and
Above Riva both look over the river rather than the towers.
The clubs
Bangkok nightlife concentrates in three areas and they are not interchangeable.
RCA is the large-format strip. Onyx and
Route 66 sit next to each other and between them hold several thousand
people on a Saturday. This is the closest thing in the city to the EDC main-stage
experience, and the obvious pre-festival warm-up.
Thonglor and Ekkamai are where the city's own crowd goes.
Sugar Club is the best-known room and the one most likely to have a
name DJ. Muin is smaller and more current.
Sukhumvit carries the rest, including Spaceplus, a warehouse-scale
room that books international headliners and is the venue most likely to run an official
or unofficial EDC-adjacent event.
One proper dinner
If you eat one serious meal on the way through, make it Thai rather than international.
Potong in Chinatown works from five generations of a Chinese-Thai
family's cooking in their own shophouse. Sorn is the highest-rated
restaurant in the country and needs booking far ahead. Le Du is the
most gettable of the three and still excellent.
For a group that wants a room rather than a menu, Nobu Bangkok and
Bar.Yard both run late and loud enough to become the night.
Practical
- Fly into Bangkok, hop to Phuket. The domestic leg is about ninety minutes gate to
gate and runs constantly. Book it separately and cheaply.
- Give Bangkok two nights on the way in, not one. Jet lag plus a festival weekend with
no buffer is how people miss the first day.
- Traffic is the constraint, not distance. Between 4pm and 8pm nothing moves. Use the
BTS and the river boats.
- Bangkok clubs close around 2am, earlier than the festival will condition you to
expect. Start earlier than feels right.
