Above Eleven occupies the 33rd and 34th floors of Fraser Suites Sukhumvit and holds a genuine claim to fame: it opened in 2012 as Bangkok's original Peruvian-Japanese, or Nikkei, restaurant, set high above the perpetual buzz of Soi 11.
Long before rooftop dining became routine in Bangkok, this was the room that fused the two cuisines with a skyline view. The design is a signature in its own right - an urban city-park in the sky, with structural trees and lush greenery framing an open outlook across the Sukhumvit skyline.
It reads more like a landscaped garden lofted above the street than a conventional rooftop bar, which gives it a warmth the glass-and-steel rooftops lack. Here the menu carries the night as much as the view. Nikkei platters, bright ceviches and heartier mains share the table with classic pisco cocktails and Peruvian-inflected originals, built for sharing across a long dinner.
