Issaya Siamese Club is celebrity chef Ian Kittichai's modern-Thai flagship and one of Bangkok's enduring destination restaurants, open since 2011 and recognized with a Michelin Plate as well as a place on Asia's 50 Best Discovery. Kittichai -- the first Thai chef to run a major New York kitchen -- cooks the food of his childhood, reimagined with polish and wit.
The setting is unforgettable: a restored 1920s Thai-colonial villa hidden down a quiet Sathorn lane and wrapped in lawns and tropical gardens. Designer Hans Bogetoft Christensen filled it with boldly saturated salons -- violet, cobalt and teal rooms layered with vintage furniture, antique cabinets and eccentric art -- so every corner photographs beautifully.
