Issaya Siamese Club is celebrity chef Ian Kittichai's modern-Thai flagship and one of Bangkok's enduring destination restaurants, open since 2011 and recognized with a place on Asia's 50 Best Discovery. Kittichai, the first Thai chef to run a major New York kitchen, cooks the food of his childhood, reimagined with polish and wit.
The setting is a restored 1920s Thai-colonial villa hidden down a quiet Sathorn lane and wrapped in lawns and tropical gardens. Boldly saturated salons - violet, cobalt and teal rooms layered with vintage furniture, antique cabinets and eccentric art - make every corner photograph beautifully.
The cooking is confident modern Thai that still respects tradition. Signatures include the slow-braised massaman lamb shank (mussamun gae), a banana-blossom salad, jasmine flower panna cotta and the house mango sticky rice, plus theatrical, aromatic touches that arrive tableside.
