Restaurant of chef Garima Arora, who in 2024 became the first Indian woman to hold two Michelin stars
Gaa is the restaurant of chef Garima Arora, who in 2024 became the first Indian woman to hold two Michelin stars, following a first star in 2018. Founded in 2017 and set in a traditional Thai wooden house relocated from Ayutthaya, it channels a personal, exploratory vision of cooking that stays Indian to its core while celebrating Thailand's less-heralded ingredients.
The setting is a character in its own right - a relocated, traditionally built house that trades hotel gloss for warmth and history, an intimate frame for a menu that changes with the seasons.
The kitchen serves a single tasting menu built on classic Indian techniques - notably the extraction of umami from vegetables - applied to locally sourced, seasonal produce. The result is bold, playful and in constant evolution, rarely the same from one visit to the next.
Gaa sits at No. 95 on Asia's 50 Best Restaurants 2026 and stands among the most inventive Indian tables in the city. It is a destination dinner, not a casual drop-in, so book well ahead and come ready to follow the kitchen wherever the season is leading it.
