Sky Bar perches on the 64th floor of lebua at State Tower, roughly 247 meters above Silom, and its gold-domed cantilever bar - made globally recognizable by The Hangover Part II - juts straight out over the edge with the Chao Phraya sweeping below. It is the single most photographed drink in Bangkok, and the sense of occasion is total.
The bar itself is the spectacle: an oval, color-shifting island that glows over a vertiginous drop, ringed by a narrow terrace that opens onto one of the great river panoramas anywhere. Sunset here, with the river bending gold beneath you and the city stretching to the horizon, is the reason people queue.
The signature pour is the Hangovertini, created for the film, backed by classics-with-a-twist, champagne and a cigar list. Drinks are priced for the view as much as the liquid, and that is understood as part of the deal.
This is a bucket-list stop, not a quiet find, so expect crowds, a minimum spend in the busy evening hours and the city's strictest dress code - long trousers and closed shoes, no exceptions. Sky Bar is walk-in only, no reservations, open daily from 5pm; come early to claim a spot at the rail, or try Distil or Alfresco 64, the quieter bars elsewhere in the same tower, if the crush is too much.
