Modern Mexican on the second floor of The Cosmopolitan, with weekend brunch and late-night DJs
Amaya is a modern Mexican restaurant on the second floor of The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, on the Strip at 3708 Las Vegas Boulevard South. The kitchen takes its cue from the Mexican coast, with shareable appetizers, fresh fish and charred meats, and the bar is built around tequila, smoky mezcal and Mexican beer.
The design, by Peter Max Bowden and his team at Petermax Co., draws on the tree-canopied tropics of the Yucatan Peninsula. Guests enter through a wood facade modeled on those found in Tulum, into lush greenery, dramatic lighting and sand-toned decor. The restaurant covers more than 7,000 square feet across a dining room, a bar and a lounge, with a semi-private room that seats 40.
The current menu runs from Oysters Oaxacafeller, shrimp aguachile and lobster tacos to quesabirria tacos with consomme, Birria Short Rib and a 55-ounce prime tomahawk for the table, and the cocktail list includes the Sassy Pina and the mezcal-led Smoke & Mirrors. Buenos Dias Brunch runs Saturday and Sunday from 11am to 3pm, with chilaquiles, Birria Benedicto and Churro French Toast, and bottomless mimosas, micheladas and house margaritas for guests 21 and over.
Amaya opens daily at 11am and closes at 10pm Sunday through Thursday and at 11pm on Friday and Saturday. Late Night Dining on Friday and Saturday from 8pm brings live DJs, dancers and fire performers through the room during dinner service. Reservations are recommended for weekend brunch and for Friday and Saturday nights.
