Some rooms hold their power by reputation alone. The Polo Lounge at The Beverly Hills Hotel is not one of them. It earns it every morning at 7am, when the green leather banquettes fill with agents, studio heads, and the occasional film legend who has been coming here since before you were born. The hotel itself opened in 1912 - three years before Beverly Hills was incorporated as a city. The Polo Lounge followed in 1941, named when hotel manager Hernando Courtright tucked a polo trophy belonging to millionaire Charles Wrightsman behind the bar.
