Academy Awards 2027 in Los Angeles: The Season and Where to Book
The 99th Oscars air Sunday, March 14, 2027 at 4 p.m. Pacific, which puts every dinner in Los Angeles after the show rather than during it. The five dates that matter, and where to book in Hollywood, Beverly Hills and West Hollywood.
Academy Awards 2027 in Los Angeles: the season, and where to book
The 99th Oscars air Sunday, March 14, 2027 from the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood, with Conan O'Brien hosting, on ABC and streaming on Hulu. The broadcast starts at 7 p.m. ET, which is 4 p.m. Pacific - and that single detail reorganizes the whole evening in Los Angeles.

A 4 p.m. start means the show is over by early evening on the West Coast. Nobody in Los Angeles is eating dinner during the Oscars. They are eating after it, which puts the entire city's restaurant demand into a narrow band from about 7 p.m. onward, on a Sunday, in a town where a lot of the best kitchens close early on Sundays or do not open at all.
That is the practical shape of Oscars night here, and it is the opposite of how it looks from the East Coast.
The dates that matter, not just the one
Awards season in Los Angeles is five separate nights of demand spread across five months, and the ceremony is the last of them. These are the Academy's own published dates, and the Academy notes that all of them are subject to change.

The two worth planning around early are the Governors Awards on November 15, which is weeks away and already the busiest industry dinner night of the late autumn, and the nominations announcement on January 21, which turns into a day of celebration lunches and dinners for everyone who was named that morning.
Nomination morning is the one people underestimate. The list lands early, and by that afternoon a few hundred people want a table that night, in the same four neighborhoods, with no notice.
The geography: the ceremony is in Hollywood, the dinners are not
The Dolby Theatre sits at Hollywood and Highland, and the Governors Ball is directly upstairs from it in the Ray Dolby Ballroom on the top level of Ovation Hollywood - Wolfgang Puck Catering has written that menu for three decades, 31 years as of the 97th ceremony by the Academy's own count.
So the official evening never leaves the building. Everything else does. The restaurant clusters that carry Oscars week are Beverly Hills and West Hollywood, with a smaller Hollywood group within reach of the theater itself. Plan by which of those three you are starting from, because crossing between them on a Sunday evening in March costs more time than the map suggests.
Hollywood, close to the theater

Mother Wolf on Wilcox is the shortest walk of anything in this group that takes a real table, Evan Funke's Roman room in a former radio building. TAO Los Angeles on Selma takes a large group properly and runs loud, so a table of fourteen is not the loudest thing in the room. Gwen on Sunset is the quieter steak option a few blocks west.
Yamashiro is the one to know about. It sits on the hill directly above Hollywood Boulevard, so the view is the city and the theater you just left, and it is the only room in this cluster where the setting does part of the work for you.
Beverly Hills, where the industry actually eats

Spago on Canon is the obvious one and stays obvious for a reason: it is Wolfgang Puck's own dining room in the same week his kitchen is feeding the Governors Ball. CUT at the Beverly Wilshire is the other Puck room, the Richard Meier-designed steakhouse, and it is in the MICHELIN Guide's Beverly Hills selection.
Around them: Mastro's and Steak 48 for the steak dinner that needs to seat twelve, Funke and Il Pastaio for pasta, Matsuhisa for the original Nobu Matsuhisa room on La Cienega, Avra for Greek seafood and a big table, and Mr. Chow on Camden, which has been the industry's post-event room since long before most of the current nominees were working.

The Polo Lounge at the Beverly Hills Hotel is the daytime half of this week rather than the evening half. It is where the breakfast and lunch meetings happen during nominations and in the run-up to the ceremony, and it books accordingly.
West Hollywood, for the night that runs late

Craig's on Melrose is the hardest table in this guide on a night like this one, and it is hard for a single reason: it is small and the room is almost entirely people the cameras outside are waiting for.
Delilah is the other end of the same idea - a supper club where dinner turns into the rest of the night without anyone moving. On a Sunday when half the city's kitchens close early, that is the whole argument for it. Catch LA and Cecconi's both take groups on the roof and the patio respectively. Casa Madera and The Nice Guy cover the same crowd with a shorter wait.

The dinner that is not about being seen
Some of awards season is the opposite ask: a quiet room, a long menu, and nobody looking. Los Angeles is unusually strong here, and these rooms are in the MICHELIN Guide's Los Angeles selection.
n/naka in Palms for kaiseki, Providence on Melrose for seafood, Vespertine in Culver City for the most formal tasting menu in the city, Somni in West Hollywood for a counter of ten, and Melisse in Santa Monica. Every one of these books weeks out in an ordinary month, so awards season means months.
After the show

The official after-parties are invitation-only and we are not in that business. What we book is the night that happens around them, for the people who are not going to one or who leave early.
In Hollywood, Warwick on Sunset and Sound on Las Palmas are the two closest to the theater, with Jungle on Cahuenga and Avalon on Vine behind them. On La Cienega, Poppy and Zouk are the table rooms, and Hyde Sunset starts as dinner and becomes the night. The full ranking is in our guide to the best nightclubs in Los Angeles.
What we can help with, plainly
Every restaurant on this page books through its own reservation platform, and the link is on its venue page. For awards season that is the fastest route and you should use it - on nomination morning, ten minutes matters.
Where our Los Angeles partner is useful is the rest of it: nightclub tables, which do not sell online here; a group of ten or more, where the public booking systems stop being able to help; private dining rooms; and the evening that has to work as a sequence rather than a single reservation. Tell us the night and the headcount and we will come back with what is genuinely open.
We do not sell tickets to the ceremony or to any official event, and we do not have access to the Governors Ball or the studio parties. Anyone telling you otherwise is selling you something else.
Build a custom itinerary with our concierge team. Pair the venues mentioned above into a single concierge-confirmed evening. See the full Las Vegas events calendar for every upcoming DJ and pool party across the city.
