Catch LA is a retractable-roof rooftop on the corner of Melrose and San Vicente, at 8715 Melrose Ave in the West Hollywood Design District, and it draws the celebrity-spotted crowd you came to Los Angeles to be in. Dinner runs under vine-covered columns with a view that stretches from the Hollywood Hills to Downtown LA, and by 8pm on a Friday it is the loudest dining room within ten blocks, in the good way: a soundtrack guests came for, not one they have to talk over.
When Catch Steak LA closed in early 2025, its chophouse menu folded into this room, so the same rooftop now runs both the seafood and the steak side. If you booked Catch Steak LA on La Cienega in the past, that address is gone and the steak program lives here now. This is the only Catch in Los Angeles.
Glass, brick, vines, and hanging glow-globes frame an open kitchen that sends lobster towers and wagyu carts past every table. The seafood is still the headline, and the Catch Roll, Truffle Sashimi, Spicy Gigli, and Cantonese Lobster are the four orders regulars never skip. From the steak side, Japanese wagyu is cooked tableside on a 400-degree hot rock and finished at your table by your server, the dish the room runs on. Sunday brunch is its own production, with wagyu surf and turf rolls, lobster benedicts, and a bottomless option that pulls a younger Hollywood crowd.
The 5:30 weekend seatings are the sweet spot if you want the sunset over the patio before the room turns, and prime Friday and Saturday slots from 7:30 to 9:30pm on the patio vanish fast. Dress is smart casual, LA-smart rather than Vegas-formal, so good denim and clean sneakers are fine. The main dining room seats up to 12, larger groups route through the private events team, and the house runs a 15-minute grace period with 90 minutes at the table.
