Catch LA sits on a retractable rooftop above the corner of Melrose and San Vicente, at 8715 Melrose Ave in the West Hollywood Design District. The open-air dining room looks out from Downtown Los Angeles to the Hollywood Hills, and the music is curated in-house to keep the energy up through dinner. It is the only Catch in Los Angeles, and the steak side of the menu now lives here too.
The restaurant opened in 2016 and marked its tenth year with a Rockwell Group redesign: a greenery-filled entrance, a red marble bar, curved leather banquettes and dark wood, a glass-paned dining room, and a terrace under a retractable awning.
Fish for the sushi is flown in from Tokyo's Toyosu Market. The Catch Roll with crab, salmon and miso-honey, the Truffle Sashimi with black truffle puree and Kaluga caviar, and the Hot Stone Wagyu Fried Rice are the signatures, joined by newer plates like the Crudo di Catch and the Angry Lobster Mafaldine. Japanese wagyu, including A5 Kobe beef from Hyogo Prefecture, is cooked tableside on the Wagyu Hot Rock. At the bar, the Catch Dirty Martini comes with furikake mascarpone olives.
Dinner starts at 6pm Sunday through Thursday and at 5:30pm on Friday and Saturday, when service runs until 10:30pm and 11pm. The dress code is smart elegant, with no athletic wear, shorts, hats, ripped jeans or sunglasses indoors, and underage guests finish their visit by 8pm. For private events there is the Emerald Room and a wraparound outdoor terrace.
