Bellopuerto is a Polanco cocina de mar on Julio Verne, a few steps off Presidente Masaryk. It keeps things light: raw preparations, cold plates and a cocktail bar that runs late through the back half of the week.
The menu is seafood with a regional Mexican accent. Ceviche comes with tomato tatemado, or as salmon ceviche with chiltepin pasta, and the tiradito changes with the day's catch. Tostadas range from habanero tuna with avocado mousse to marlin tinga and mango-garlic shrimp, and the aguachiles come in black, green or red versions.
Octopus turns up across the menu as carpaccio, cocktail, tempura, in machitos tacos, grilled, and even folded into a charcoal-grilled marrow bone. Mains run to a whole grilled bass, fish and chips, shrimp a la diabla in garlic sauce, salmon with teriyaki, and a seared tuna steak finished with a vinaigrette.
It fills from one in the afternoon for the Mexican comida, then keeps going until midnight Wednesday through Saturday. Tuesday closes earlier, at ten, and Sunday and Monday wind down by seven in the evening.
