French brasserie in a Juarez mansion
Havre 77 occupies a restored Porfirian mansion on the tree lined street it takes its name from, in Colonia Juarez, and has spent more than a decade as the city's most convincing French brasserie. The ground floor room is casual elegant, the oyster bar sits front and centre, and the balcony over Calle Havre is the seat regulars fight for.
The restaurant was conceived by chef Eduardo Garcia as a tribute to French cooking, with chef Gerardo Ramos running the kitchen. The result is brasserie food done straight: oysters and shellfish on ice, steak tartare, duck, whole fish and the classic sauces, built on the same supplier network that feeds the rest of Garcia's restaurants.
