L'Entrecote in Polanco is the Mexico City outpost of Le Relais de Venise, the Paris bistro that has served the same single meal since 1959. There is no menu in the usual sense. You sit, you say how you want the steak cooked, and the sequence arrives: a green salad with walnuts and mustard vinaigrette, then sliced entrecote in the house herb butter sauce with a mound of thin fries, then a second serving of both once the first plate is gone.
The sauce is the whole argument. It is made to a recipe the family has never published, herbaceous and buttery, poured over the entrecote and the fries alike. Dessert is the only real decision left, and the list stays classically French.
The room does the Paris bistro thing properly, with tight tables, mirrors, banquettes and waiters in black and white who move fast.
