Contemporary Mexican cooking and estate mezcal on Jardin Centenario
Los Danzantes has held a table on the Jardin Centenario in Coyoacan since 1995, one of the clearest arguments for contemporary Mexican cooking outside the Polanco and Roma circuit. The house belongs to Grupo Los Danzantes, which in 1997 opened its own distillery in Santiago Matatlan, Oaxaca, producing the Los Danzantes and Alipus mezcal brands, and that spine runs through the whole menu.
Hoja santa has anchored the menu for more than two decades, alongside a kitchen that keeps working traditional Mexican ingredients into a contemporary register. The drinks program centers on the estate mezcals, backed by a wine and cocktail list built to match.
The room sits under the arcades on the plaza, with a courtyard, stone and timber inside, and a terrace looking onto the Jardin Centenario. The crowd mixes Coyoacan locals with visitors working through the weekend markets nearby, and the early weekend opening makes it a genuine all-day address.
Monday through Thursday the kitchen runs 12:30pm to 11pm; Friday and Saturday 9am to midnight; Sunday 9am to 11pm.
