Salt baked fish and Greek islands in Lomas
Estiatorio Nostos is the Greek dining room that Lomas de Chapultepec adopted as its own. The name comes from Homer, the ancient idea of a warrior's return home by sea, and the restaurant runs with it: a white and blue washed space inside a plaza off Monte Everest, the fish counter on display, and a well dressed local crowd that keeps the room full from lunch until well past midnight.
It was founded in 2018 by Dionysios Skafidas with executive chef Rene Nungaray, who spent his twenties cooking in the Greek restaurants of Las Vegas. The menu is built on seafood: whole fish baked in a salt crust and filleted at the table, grilled octopus with olive oil, onion and capers, Metaxa flamed prawns, lobster salad, and the Nostos petals of crisp eggplant and zucchini with tzatziki.
Mezze, saganaki, lamb from the grill and a Greek wine list round it out, along with Metaxa and ouzo service that the floor team pushes with some enthusiasm. Valet parking is available, and the entrance is on Monte Everest, inside the plaza, which trips up first timers every night.
Booking is handled through OpenTable. The kitchen runs late from Thursday to Saturday, so reserve ahead for weekend dinner.
