Pacific coast seafood in Bosques de las Lomas
Puntarena is Federico Rigoletti's coastal Mexican project, a contemporary reading of Pacific seafood cooking that started in Bosques de las Lomas and has since spread to Santa Fe, Virreyes and Madrid. The Bosques room, inside Plaza Parque Duraznos, is the original and the one that set the template for the rest.
The kitchen works from a raw bar forward: tostadas including tuna and a choricera style, ceviches and tiraditos, then grilled dorado, black cod with miso and salmon teriyaki off the hot line. The kitchen opens for breakfast too, with shakshuka, chilaquiles, egg dishes and omelettes served before the lunch menu takes over, which makes it one of the few serious seafood rooms in the city open that early.
Bosques de las Lomas puts the restaurant inside the corporate belt west of Polanco, so weekday lunches skew business and weekends skew family. It runs long hours, from 8 in the morning to 11 at night Monday through Saturday and 9 to 6 on Sunday, which covers breakfast, a full lunch and dinner service, and a late kitchen on weekend nights.
