Restaurant with Angel de la Independencia views on Reforma
Salazar occupies the eighth floor of Reforma 333 in Mexico City, on a terrace directly across from the Angel de la Independencia. The building is a timber structure raised on the rooftop that reads like a barn dropped into the middle of Paseo de la Reforma, with glass on three sides so that almost every table gets a view of the monument and the terrace gets it head on.
The restaurant opened in January 2023. The kitchen is run by chef Allan Yanez, who trained in the Basque Country at Martin Berasategui, Akelarre and Azurmendi, with Edo Kobayashi serving as creative director. Salazar's own account describes its cooking as Mexican cuisine with influences from the Gulf of Mexico, served in a room built around fire and wood.
The room pairs the timber architecture with a wine list built for long evenings, and the terrace is the draw at either end of the day, working equally for a long lunch, a sunset drink or a full dinner with the monument lit up below the glass.
