Senora Tanaka opened on Avenida Presidente Masaryk in June 2022, the second location from the team behind Senor Tanaka, which opened in Monterrey in 2004 as a nikkei restaurant blending Japanese and Peruvian cooking. The Masaryk room arrived with rock and roll on the sound system and a swagger of its own.
The interiors come from Filipao Nunes Arquitectos and run on a single floor, with the entrance crossing a water mirror into the dining room. Cherry trees and dried red branches are worked into the design as a nod to Japanese architectural tradition set against an urban edge, and the lighting is built to hold a moody, almost ceremonial atmosphere through service.
The kitchen works a nikkei concept, pairing Japanese technique with Peruvian and Latin flavors, styled as casual elegant Japanese dining with a grunge, avant garde edge that plays against its more refined roots. A full sushi program runs alongside the kitchen, and the room is built to carry volume: it fills early and stays loud into the night.
