Edgar Nunez's Michelin starred tasting menu in Pedregal
Sud 777 sits on Boulevard de la Luz in Jardines del Pedregal, deep in the volcanic rock south of Mexico City and a long way from the Roma and Polanco circuit. Chef Edgar Nunez has run it since 2008 and it holds one Michelin star in the Mexico guide.
The cooking is vegetable forward and produce led, working closely with small growers and changing with what is in season. Vegetables lead the plate more often than protein does, and the tasting menu shifts through the year, with a carte running alongside it for guests who want to order more loosely.
The building is a low, glassy pavilion wrapped in planting and water, which makes it one of the few high end rooms in the city that feels as much like a garden as a dining room. It is also unusually flexible: doors open at 8 AM, so the same address handles breakfast meetings, long weekday lunches and dinners that run to midnight Thursday through Saturday. Sunday is lunch only, ending at 5 PM.
