Fire-cooked Mediterranean sharing plates in a historic Colonia Juarez house
Taverna takes its cue from the classic taverns of southern Europe and sits inside an early 20th-century historic house on General Prim in Colonia Juarez, near Bucareli. The space runs through intimate dining rooms and a central patio to a bar that carries the night along with cocktails, wine, mezcal and music.
Chefs Emme Prieto and Chris Domit cook over fire and charcoal, and the menu is written for sharing at the center of the table, built on carefully sourced ingredients and paced for a long meal. The drinks list runs to more than 50 mezcals and agave spirits and a wine list of over 100 labels.
It works for a dinner with friends or a more intimate evening, with a private room, valet parking and a smart casual dress code. Service runs from 2 PM to 11 PM Monday through Saturday, and the restaurant is closed on Sunday.
