Terraza Condesa DF · Rooftop Bar · Mexico City
Jacaranda-shaded deck over Parque Espana
The roof of Condesa DF is a narrow triangle of dark decking that points out over the treetops of Parque Espana, with Chapultepec Castle sitting on its hill in the distance and the jacarandas throwing purple over the parapet in spring. The hotel stands on Avenida Veracruz, the street that divides Condesa from Roma, so the view is all canopy and low art deco rooflines rather than skyline - the softest rooftop outlook in the city.
The building is a 1928 French-style block reworked by architect Javier Sanchez with interiors by India Mahdavi, and the terrace inherits that language: turquoise and green, patterned tile, cane and rattan, canvas awnings, candles after dark. It seats fewer people than most rooftops in town, which is exactly why regulars guard it.
The kitchen up here is Japanese. C
