Japanese-Mediterranean restaurant and DJ nights on the port of Saint-Tropez, quai Jean Jaures
Nao has moved to the port of Saint-Tropez. After a few seasons under the plane trees of the Place des Lices, the restaurant now sits at 22 quai Jean Jaures, facing the masts of the boats, with a sun-drenched terrace out front and an interior in coppery tones.
The kitchen cooks Japanese-inspired food with subtle Mediterranean touches, pairing raw and cooked dishes with binchotan grilling, produce from the Var and seasonal vegetables. Starters run from Citrus Hamachi carpaccio to Bibim Tuna tartare, the rolls include the Dragon with prawn tempura and salmon tataki, and from the sea comes Poulpe Riviera, grilled octopus with jalapeno. The Angasu Beef, a USA Prime Black Angus rib eye with three-year aged soy sauce, is made to share between two.
At lunch the terrace opens onto the harbor for long, sunny meals to the clatter of the masts, and the menu keeps changing through the summer. After dark the pace picks up as DJs take over, with a line-up across the season that mixes international names and up-and-coming talent.
Groups of more than 20, and anyone looking to take over the whole restaurant, are handled as private events.
